Yet another extruder spinner/visualizer. This is my attempt to create a "reel-to-reel" tape effect. However, I noted when I reversed the colors around, it looks a bit like a spool of filament as well.
I like an indicator "dot" on my spinners - so that they're not 100% symmetrical. Helps when viewing over a webcam.
The SCAD files are almost the same - just minor changes in what it shown/positioned. Feel free to download and play with them.
I designed for a .2 initial layer and .15 layers after that.
Printed one set (top/bottom + "tape") in black and another in silver. Swapped middle/tape parts, glued everything together and viola.
Glue parts together
Some superglue and 8x2mm neodymium magnets.
I printed in PLA and didn't use any supports - I had no problems spanning across the 8mm gap for the magnet. You could modify the OpenSCAD file and just remove the magnet hole and then eyeball/try to glue the magnet in the middle.
I make sure to "line up" the magnets on all of my spinners, so the poles are always in the same direction, but that's not super-important.
