Now I can loose all my SD cards at once.

I just created a clip for this to prevent the inserts from pulling out while you have it in your laptop bag or anything like that. It is posted here to get the STL file.

SD Card Holder Clip
by drkline

And you didn't think a rubberband would have done the job?

Sure, but if you know how to design stuff quickly and you have a 3D printer, then why settle for a rubber band?

The card holders printed great laying down and were a perfect size for the cards. I now need to print the shell. What orientation did everyone do it?

Wondering exactly the same thing. I have two prints going now.. I'll let you know which orientation works the best..

I've printed a few since my original question. All bar one has failed.
I have found the only way to get it to work is like the attached picture. This is using supports, but from the build plate only.
The main failure mode seems to be the screw hole surround is too weak and if there is any support material in it, the whole things breaks on removal. That and the writing and imagery embedded into the case is so deep it wants to keep adding support.
I have found the alignment of screw holes between the case part on the sd card holders is not great though. I doubt I would be able to get M3 bolts through it, but will try with M2.5 when I get one long enough.

Great overall design idea!

Inside pieces print beautifully...

The outer case doesn't print as well - I think it has to do with all the engraving (and its really deep). Tried different angels and supports... Causes excess stringing and retractions in PETG. Results in pitted surfaces and filament spider web even with 6mm retraction. Would prefer a flat surface - or, even better - customizable one!

Would be nice if there were a few extra sized cases so you could choose how many cards you want the item to carry. Have lots of SD cards.

Nice original design. Thumbs up!

Хорошая идея для хранения карт памяти!

quick print, and worked great!! I will make a few more..

I printed it and its all too small, the SD card dont fit nor the Micro-SDs. I tried to enlarge things by sanding and with a knife cutting small corners... but now its all irregular, and the stuff "fall" inside.

I would recommend to SCALE UP a bit, print just one trail and test-fit.

  • by the way, the engravings in both sites are bad idea... most of printers are not capable of doing it "good enough", check the pictures and you`ll see.

dunno why but after printing all the part without modifying scale, only 4 part fit in (3 for micro sd and 1 for SD, or 2 x Micro + 2 SD).

all part was printed in 0.1mm layer h and without problem so I dont get it ....

What's the difference between "Porte_carte_SD_MicroSD.stl", "Porte_carte_SD_MicroSD_2.stl" and "Porte_carte_SD_MicroSD_3.stl"? They look absolutely the same.

Same with the other two files included. they also look the same. That's quite confusing.

It appears that they have different origins so that, when you load all of them in a 3D design app, including the outer case, you see an assembled unit.

A design with a keyhole would be nice.

Hey ! thanks :)
The goal was to make the storage as compact as possible, but it's not a bad idea.

Thank you for this thing! Thumbs up to you!

You need to set you Z-axis up in the Fusion 360 preferences ;-)
