I'd like to see more info on your setup pictured. Do you have that anywhere?

that is one bad ass setup you have there

How about adding a set of 1 inch and 2 inch extensions, thread to nut, that can be added for some of the wider reels. I have some that are 4.25" wide and some 4.5". There seems to be a lot of different sizes out there and having some extensions would make this great design even better.

I printed one the standard size and then I scaled the next one up 25% (the biggest my printer will go) but I still can't get the biggest reels on.

Thanks for a good design.

Can you upload the project files?
I must change the rod length.

Does this need supports? I printed the base arm with no problems, but I'm wondering if the rods will have trouble because they have overhangs in the center-basically the printer printing into thin air.

Nope, it's not enough "open space" to warrant supports or raft... You can print them in standard quality with no support or raft and they'll come out perfect.

Soon to be leaving thingiverse because of Makerbot's behavior towards open source.

Is there any other open source websites with available downloadable material other than thingiverse? :(

do these prints need support or a raft?

No... They'll print without them

Could you perhaps make a version that fits my spool?
Width: 81mm
Full diameter: 189mm
Diameter of center hole: 38mm
If you need more info please let me know. Thanks in advance!

Yeah, I could upload them as individual STLs. Just give me a day or two to get it all together.

I have a 5th Gen Replicator and this build doesn't fit without scaling. Could you please separate the components into individual STLs so we can arrange them as needed?

What scaling did you use to fit the 5th Gen spools? I want to use this design for them.

I didn't. It was for using standard spools with the 5th Gen. Never could get them to print. Kept telling me it was out of the print range even with one piece on the bed. Building a Prusa i3 so I'll try printing it on that.

I would need to get the dimensions of those spools... They're the skinnier ones right... I think 2lbs instead of 2k... But if I had the dimensions, I could alter the pieces to fit.

I uploaded them.
