This gave me the idea to try something similar for a $10 single motor dual-z axis setup and it worked perfectly. I used spider 80lb test, it's nylon woven and feels like it has no stretch at all. Need to make a tensioner, but works fine as is. I loosened all of the wheels on the far side from the motor and now I have no 'slanted bed' leveling issues any more. Pullys were made from a huge bag of $5 wheels, a Dremel with a cutting wheel and a bolt will groove them out nice and even.

How did you mount the line ends to the x carriage l

Hi! I'm very interested in your project. I have been testing spectra fishing line for a while now and I've had mixed results. When the carriage is moving have you noticed that the string slides up and down the pulley. Does that create any kind of issue? Have you seen Richraps design (Sli3dr)?

That is pretty damn cool. But what about compared to still core?
