Thanks for the awesome design. I am currently making them to use as our centerpieces :)
Whats the chance you could post the stl files for the numbers for the maker challenged like myself?

Thanks again for the awesome work!

Where did you get the files for the #s? Those ones looked really nice

Thank you so much for sharing the fusion file. I'm having a lot of problems when trying to change to double digit numbers, your sketch doesn't seem to be able to handle them.

Am I missing something. The lantern insert looks like a solid object with no openings to put the electric candle?

the bottom of the frame is open if that's what your asking and the lid is detachable. Or you haven't changed the file yet? it needs a tweek to become the correct part.

If you look at the third photo you can see how the parts come together with the lighting inside. The insert is solid as the ‘spiralize’ function in Cura converts that to a single wall shell with no top when printed.

Do you happen to know how much filament you used? I made 1 already and see it’s going to be lots and will need to order. Would be nice to have an approximate number. Amazing design and thank you for sharing! I’ll be sure to post pictures!

I used about 3 spools of eSUN black PLA & a bit over half a spool of transparent/natural to make 15 of the lanterns. According to the material estimates in cura it was around 2.75kg black, and .4kg transparent.

I found that each solid piece (frame or lid) uses about 90g with 2 shells and 15% infill, and they were sturdy enough to be shipped.

these are beautiful, I'm thinkin to modify them for lasercutting models ,half printed half cutted

lasercut engraved windows would look awesome! that was my original plan but I lost access to my lasercutter when techshop closed :(

This looks like a great, high quality design well done. BTW, the Fusion360 link produces this message: "This project is not public yet. You are not authorized to view it."

Thanks! Looks like the project is still pending approval for Fusion360 gallery, should be available in a day or so. In the meantime I also have it shared on GrabCAD: https://grabcad.com/library/japanese-centerpiece-lanterns-for-wedding-1
