Wow, this is a wonderful customizable comb. My absolute favorite.
Have you ever considered making an option where the text can be specified to be "raised" from the comb in addition to the way it current is designed where the text is sunken or inset on the comb. I wanted to print the text in a different color so its more noticeable. I have a MK3 with a MMU2 unit, and I can do simple automatic color changes for raised text. (or if you add a color change command you can accomplish the same thing without a MMU2 unit.)
In any case great job on a great customizable comb.

Awesome! I made a print in ABS on my Ender 3: 0,06mm 255°/100° 85% 55mm/sec (for all family members:) ). Looks amazing. Thanks for the share!

I've got troubles with tooth adhesion while printing abs

This is exactly what I was looking for :)
I never imagined I would find it in such a professional customizable format.
Kudos to the creator, I'm going to print some customized ones soon.
I'll update with a post and some pictures once I have completed them all.
Thanks for taking the time to share your great Thing.

Look very nice!
I've open the scad file and I was able to customize it, although I can see my text in Openscad, the exported file doesn't have the text personalized.
It is always "Personal Text" (in both the new scad and STL files).

I'm looking forward if you can fix it.

Thanks for sharing your design.

OpenSCAD has two modes. There is a fast preview rendering (F5 key or saving the file refreshes the preview) and the full rendering (F6 key). After choosing the final values, you have to do a full rendering. After this task is completed (takes more time, than the preview rendering), you can save it as a STL-File.

Thank you! This was the solution.

The combs print very nice but I am having trouble changing fonts. Chrome is my default browser and I am using windows 10. I type in the font name as it is shown on fonts.google.com site but it never changes. It always prints the default font. I would like a font that is a little thicker outline. Any ideas?

If you create your comb with OpenSCAD, you have to download and put the font into the same folder as the *.scad file, or install the font.
How to download the font:

  • choose a font and select it with the red "+"
  • click in the bottom on "xx Family Selected"
  • click on the download Icon

But you can also use an existing font of your OS.

That makes sense. I had it in my head that it would go out and get the font itself.
I just made two of my neighbor's kids happy with your combs

What's that wood filament brand you printed the ones on the photo with?

This is Golden PLA from Gearbest: golden PLA
A bit pricey, but it is warpfree, pretty strong and has a good diameter tolerance. I've also printed some in wood PLA (same brand), but had too much problems with the long hair combs (warping). The smaller ones printed in wood makes no problem. I sanded them and applied some beard oil. Here is the wood PLA: wood PLA
