Hi ! Very nice work, I'm curious of what you get from the game and how it help you to make your design. Anyway, it's really great and thank you for those shares.

this isn't MY design as stated in the disclaimer. it is ripped directly from the video game as its being played. i do this so i can get the model posed (as was intended by the game's developers) and have the physics applied by the game's engine to properly deform the mesh.

after i rip it, i usually do the following in my workflow to clean it up and prepare it for subdivide surface modifier:

  • manual reskew using a static object as reference (like a weapon or prop that never deforms)
  • manual tris-quads to get nice edge loops to increase the density (detail) and marking hard edges by 'creasing'
  • breaking up the model into discrete parts, cleaning up general geometry, adding depth to flat 'objects', fill any holes (non-manifold)

that's basically it... but some models present new challenges for me to resolve in new ways. thanks for the kind words and you're very welcome.
