Nice idea, did the arm support the weight of the magnifier ok?

I'd say it's borderline. Any heavier and I probably couldn't stop it from drooping. I used PLA so time will tell how long I'll be able to keep stiffening it.That's one reason why I came up with the longer ball and socket joints (4cm instead of your 2cm), to reduce the number of joints that might flex.

But I've already used it a few times for looking through while cleaning up printed parts. So thanks for coming up with all this!

Full disclosure: Your comment reminded me to add mention to the Summary that I got the basic idea from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:801279, though I created the ring from scratch in Blender so that it had fewer polygons. When I imported his model into Blender with the intent of resizing the ring, the high polygon count would have made it harder to work with than starting from scratch.

Cool, thanks for posting your design.

Yes give credit to giufini, his workstation was the start, my design is a remix of his!
