Modding this to have a 20mm dowel hole, all the way through. From the handle to the tip.

This will make it a lot stronger, so I CAN SMITE THE HERETICS!!!!!

edit: Added a spaced through the whole thing, for two 20 mm dowel rods. Filled other holes etc. Looks to be about 170 hours of printing time, at 20% infill and .2mm layers. About he same time as the Bolter was (I think)

Question: Is it missing the end of the handle? There is a hole, but no file for the end cap normally on chainswords.

Could you upload a version where all the holes are through holes? Or if you have the original files I could modify? I'd like to use a Dowel rod through the whole thing for better stiffness

Love your chainsword, but i am having a problem printing it. So far I have printed the first two pieces, but when ever I try to print the pins, nothing happens. It seems to just freeze and I can't even quit the print. I have to turn my printer off to quit it.
Could you possibly upload the pins as separate files to see if this works, as i have no clue how to this my self, having only had my printer for a couple of weeks and have no modelling skills whatsoever

i have add the new files.. and you can find the info on the number copy need on the page..

Can anyone tell me what settings they used to print this? as well as if you printed it as it appears in the files with supports?

Well that all matters on the printer and slicer and the filament switch you were using. I have managed to print those parts without using their supports. What helped me was to produce at a slower speed so this will take more time.

Hi, very nice job!
I'm going to print one but for printing and painting puposes i would print the teeth in a separate process.
I could separate them from the "body" but i want to try to print them one at the time for better results. Do you have the model of the single complete tooth? I will "carve" it by myself.
Another question, how do you orientated the tip of the chainsword in the printing process?
Thanks for the patience!

My printer suddenly stopped during the print of a part of the chainsaw and I had to print the theeth separately in order to glue them back later. I didn't want to waste half a roll of PLA and half a day printing... so I have an STL file with 5 chainsaw teeth. How would you like me to send it to you?

Hi, no thanks, i managed to separate the teeth and i made a single tooth too. The model is beautiful but its not perfect in proportions or details and i had to modify it.

would you please be able to make one with out the writing? just like a smooth band? having some printing issues with it and would like to paint a phrase on there

I have now uploaded the new file and the filename is chainsword_7_v3.stl

is it longer or just bigger in general? i printed the first one you posted (will upload pics soon) and it felt like it really needed to be another 8-10" longer, just felt kinda stubby. otherwise its an awesome model

I redesigned the sword so it was a lot longer and some what bigger to the first one. Like you I found it was a bit stubby, also I have added the design that if you 3D print out any of the middle pieces you can add as many as you want. Reading a bit more on Chainsword designs from Imperial Guard or space marines or the eviscerator the side length was varied a A lot more than that I was thinking.

oh nice, i had thought about modding it to be like that myself,

I would argue against making it longer.
I printed it whole, 30% infill for the blade, 65% infill for the pins, 50% infill for the handle, and I feel like it's really front heavy. So much that I fear for the handle to break if I move the sword somewhat giving it too much inertia.

Wonderful item by the way. I'm only done printing like 30% of it, and the nearest games workshop already invited me to shot it off :D
