How easy do they come off at the end? You say cut them off, like is it possible with an xacto knife or do I have to use something like a dremel?

Very clever design! Also works with curved lithophanes, and im about to start a 42 Hours litho print, 240mm heigh. I wouldn`t got the nerves, without these helpers. :-)

Nice solution! I have a stupid question.... How does one go about attaching the helpers to the model? In the slicer? Or some other way?

Yes all done in the slicer. I just arranged them so the models were just barely in contact.

Your idea really saved my day. Thanks ;o)

Cool concept - can you make the tabs come out at a 45-degree angle? That way there won't be any bridging.

Nice work!
I want to know what your print settings are for your lithophane. I've just begun printing lithos, but always horizontally, flat on the bed. But, with much frustration over the small dark areas like eyes. Seeing your model has me printing my very first vertical litho right now (10 hours), but I have reservations. I'm curious what print settings work well for your vertical lithos and how long does the print take?

update: days later and 5 vertically printed lithophanes later.... I'm convinced, vertical is the way to go! These turn out sooo much better. Even with my .4 nozzle and a layer height of .1, these things are turning out amazing! Print time ~5 hours.

What settings are you using? 100% infill or are you just bumping up the number of walls to get a solid litophane with 0% infill?

idioffo, I use 100% infill for Lithophanes to ensure they're solid. Any spot that doesn't come out solid will spoil the photo in the lithophane. You can see one of my test prints and the settings I used here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2798682

Excellent thanks I will try that out, how many walls are you using?

honestly I haven't done enough testing to determine what wall settings would work best. Reviewing my Simplify3D saved lithophane parameters, it looks like I used 2 shells/walls. But, I have nothing to base that choice on. I'll have to experiment one of these days. Maybe that's why I have a hard time with the darkest parts of a picture, like eyes. Ugh... eyes being so dark are the thickest part of the print and always distort a little. And it only takes a tiny distortion in the eyes to make a cute baby look like something evil. :o)

Ahah I agree one tiny distortion is enough is ruin it. Okay thanks for all the tips, I will probably experiment over the weekend with different settings and see how it goes
