The PruLight is meant to be used with (USB) LED strips. The light bar can be turned to change the angle at what needs to be lid.
Cheap LED strips usually don't stick well which is why I added friction fit "clipper" clips to keep the strips inside the light bar. The "corner" pieces aren't strictly necessary but will add friction to keep the lighting angle in the chosen position. Be sure to watch out for the cable slot when installing the light and please use 10mm velcro strips for cable management.
The camera mount should work for most action cameras but had been modelled with the Quelima SQ11 in mind for which I uploaded the camera mount separately. Use M5-25 hex head screws and M5 hex nuts to populate "screw" and "nut" of the camera mount. Similar to the F60mount for the FuriBee F60 4K the SQ11mount for the Quelima SQ11 also exists as a solo thing.
There is also a version of this arm for the Creality CR-10 - CreaLight - and probably many other printers based on open-frame v-slot extruded aluminum bars. The version for the Creality Ender 2 - EnLight - is slightly different but based on the same idea.
I might add shorter and longer light bars in the future.
The arms are known to fit on the frames of the Original Prusa i3 MK2/MK2s as well as MK3.
To end up with the very same look you will have to slice the arms with 10% to 20% honeycomb infill (for example in slic3r) using 3 or more perimeter and no top or bottom layers.
The light bar as well as all the other parts work well with default settings for 0.1mm layer height but can tend to get a bit tight at 0.2mm height or more.
As easy as 1, 2, 3
Just put a USB LED strip with the USB cable oriented towards the cable slot into the light bar and carefully cut it to lengths. Then remove the protection and glue it to the light bar. Add the corner pieces to the corners and two clippers about equally spaced apart from each other to keep the LED strip in place. Be sure to not cover LEDs or electric components but just the strip/tape instead.
In case your LED strip is not flat but a few mm heigh be sure to clip the clippers to length.
Use 10mm velcro for cable management.
To be able to capture time lapse videos as well as monitor my Prusa printers I needed better lighting. The idea for the PruLight was born.
• 2018/05/06, Removed PruLightArm.stl and added version V4 for MK2 and MK3 separately instead. Thanks to Gordon could add an MK3 version despite not owning one myself. Yay!
