Inspired by the Labyrinth Gift Box by sneakypoo, this tree ornament has been built from scratch to incorporate a message into the maze, and sized to contain US paper dollars, and shaped into a Christmas tree. You can insert money for someone to find on Christmas morning, or a note, or a clue to where they can find their real gift... But they'll have to work at it - this is not an easy solve, considering that you can't see the maze.
Another feature is the quick-lock path. Just slide the top straight onto the base until it clicks into place. Then, the only way to get it off again is to go through the maze. Because of the tight tolerances, you may need to file down the gate on the base just slightly so the top slides over the gate but doesn't slip off.
Update: added base2 and top2 to make them less sharp.
This is an easy print needing no supports. But here's a tip: first print the base at 100%, then print the top until it has printed the bump that fits into the maze grooves. At that point, stop the print and check the fit. You may need to adjust the scale of the top very slightly, depending on your printer/filament/preference/etc.
There is a hole through the top so you can insert a string, for hanging it on a tree.
If you want to trace the hidden message in the maze, use a Extra Fine or Ultra Fine marker. A fine tip marker is not fine enough to fit in the groove.
