I think this could be printed easily with 100% infill, The cavities inside should be replaced and filled with a solid fill of dissolvable support material while printing, after printing is finished remove the internal supports. I was thinking of how it might be possible to cast this from metal but that would be insansely difficult. You would have to do something similar where you would cast it solid and remove the whatever is filling the cavities. only problem is I don't have a Multi material printer to test it on.

In what direction is this best printed? I'm afraid to use supports as it might make the valve inoperable.

None do not print, it is too intricate to be printed in plastic. even sls will have problems clearing channels. No one has been able to quote a price without 4 figures and disclaimers that it may not turn out right. Sorry. I just traced the pattern from the patents.

I didn't get around to owning a 3D printer (Priorities and all that). But I'm still going to keep learning Fusion360 and Blender because I can still commission a 3D printing service.
