Hi mathgrrl! I've just created a Square-Hexagon hinged dissection, based on the GIF here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hinged_dissection

My last bit of trouble is the hinges, and I was hoping you could help. Have you made any modular form of your hinges that can be applied to other designs? I can share my OpenSCAD design if you want to have a look - the current hinges are not working out. Thanks!

Tried printing on a MakerFarm Prusa i3v, 8 inch, with an E3D v6 0.4mm nozzle for 1.75mm ABS. When bending the hinges after printing, they broke off completely.

Hi AbuMaia, These are optimized for .2 layer height - not sure if you used that or not but let me know

Yep, 0.4 first layer, 0.2 layer after.

Shot in the dark : Any chance you had supports on? This model needs to be printed with no supports. If that doesn't work then I would guess your printer needs a different hinge clearance. I don't have a customizable version of this but I do of the fidget cube: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:230139http://www.thingiverse.com/thi...

No supports, no raft, no brim.

Hmm, I guess you need the hinge clearance changed. I just uploaded the OpenSCAD for the model. Try fiddling with "hinge_clearance" first. If you can't get that to work you could try changing the highly technical parameters "fudge" and "hack", but I don't recommend that unless you are desperate.
