Appreciate all of the work with the code and wiring diagram but is there a reason you choose to use two batteries and then step them down? I was thinking of just getting a slightly larger single battery and stepping it up by getting a PowerBoost charger so that I could recharge the battery using a USB connection. Just asking as a sanity check to make sure I am not missing something.

You're not missing anything. It was the most compact battery I had on hand at the time. Feel free to use any solution that works for you.

Aw man, I have been waiting to build one of these but without all the expensive ardafruit only parts. I'd love the source and wiring schematics or even a picture and I promise not to share or show all the try-hard nerds that want to correct your hax.

sighs Fine. I'll whip up some quick-n-dirty wiring schems and provide the .ino. I don't care if you share, I just didn't want to do the extra work in commenting the code and cleaning it up. LOL!

Okay, schematic has been added. Source code forthcoming.
