No matter what settings I use, I can't get the ring to print. When I look at the print preview, it's full of holes and there seems to be no way to get it to print with 100% infill. Wondering if something is wrong with the file.

Hmmm, what software are you using? It slices fine for me in repetier host/Slic3r. It's possible Netfabb did something when I fixed it. I've uploaded an alt version that hasn't gone through netfabb, give that a try.

I'm using MakerWare. Seems like it thinks the piece is hollow, so no matter what I set the infill too, it would just collapse in on itself. I'll try the new file tonight. I'm new to this though, should I consider using other software (I run a Makerbot 2)?

I've never used a makerbot so I'm not sure what options you have. I think the earlier ones were reprap variant and could use other software but I don't know about new ones. If the makerware has an option to fix objects I'd try that also.

A friend suggested I run the model through MS's model repair service, netfabb.azurewebsites.net/

The print preview of the fixed file looks promising, I'll try printing it tonight and report back.

Running into the same issue. Care to upload the fixed STL as a remix?
