Used Gurgelx controller holders to integrate neodymium magnets and attach it to a piece of 1/2" PVC to make it more affordable. Now you can pop the controller out and in via the magnets.
Print 2 controller bases and 1 of each controller (right and left). Cost me about $25 for all 4 pieces (may be less if you have a hook up).
Buy about 4' of 1/2" Schedule 40 PVC pipe from the hardware store. (~$2)
Get 2 elbows and 2 caps (~$1.50)
Buy these pipe clamps (the controller bases are made to work specifically with these clamps. (make sure it's the #0 ones - $2.65)
I've also found that a 1/4" nut for each clamp helps bolt it on really tight and sturdy.
These magnets work great ~$8.50 (you can also skip the magnets and just glue the pieces together and slip the controllers in and out of the holders - similar to Gurgelx' version)
If the link dies these are 1.26" x 1/8" noedymium magnets. You need a total of 4 of them.
Total Cost - about $40 (unless you can 3d print yourself, then it's way cheaper)
Optional: screw an eye hook into the PVC elbow and use a single point harness (~$5 on ebay)
