The RoboFamily consists of the laser-cut AlphaBot and his children both printed with the Makerbot
The Girl Robot is based on the Protobot[ http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:18264 ] and the Boy Robot of the Tribot "Scout" [ http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:13042 ].
To personalise the smaller robots it is possible to add servo-holders in the front and a component which can be attached to an ultrasonic sensor. This extension allows the robots to turn the sensor in different directions.
In addition our family is able to communicate with each other via XBee and the kids can identify the direction of the adult. Each family member ist able to show emotions like anger or confusion.
The robots were created in the context of a collegiate project at the University of Bremen.

- 1 Lithium-ionic-9V-battery (rechargeable), normal 9V batterie works as well, but do not last very long
- 3 Servos (two need to be "hacked")
- 1 Ball for the Ball-Bearing

- 1 XBee-Module and 1 Pololu IR-Beacon for Communication
The Alphabot is designed for 3,6mm plywood. For the Wheels we used LEGO-tyres and two 12V gear motors.
