is there a trick to getting the motor that came with the aero to fit or do I gotta order a pancake?

No problem with that. It certainly fits. It is just that pancake is overall lighter...

the motor doesnt seem to fit flush because it wont sit level on the back.... I was just wondering if you had tried it with a full size nema17

Well... nicely done, but I've used the file to adjust it after print so the original motor fits now as well :)

ya I used a scalpel and a little brute force and ignorance but got it to fit :)

Just mind that pancake needs wires to be swaped.

Going to lose quite a bit of Z height with this design. Have you considered moving the motor up some so that the build volume is not compromised? Otherwise looks like a good start. I may take this and carry on with it if you arent going to have a final in the next short while.

Actually Z height is the same as for the original carriage with original head. That condition was put into design from the very beginning. I've also made a v2 with thicker walls, wider holes etc, but has not printed it yet as I'm still struggling with the electronics and printer is half-disassembled and I don't want to put it here without being printed first.

Have not tested it yet, still figuring out how to handle electronically and firmware-wise the BL Touch sensor altogether with PT100 thermistor, but mechanically seems to be OK, but there will definitely be V2 of the design to extend holes for the wires, adjust the shape of fan duct part that goes to the fan and few other minor adjustments. I also looking to print this thing with the enhanced quality of the V6 and probably with stronger materials. So far the side holder for the removable fan duct is not holding well if printed 90 degrees. Maybe need to adjust temperature of the hotend, but that would be in V2 as well. I also have an idea of special mount for the wires connector.

Nice work. Could you create a version that takes LM8UU (8x15x24mm) bearings?

I abandoned the idea of using the LM8 bearings. They are more noisy and not that reliable as brass bushings

I agree about the LM8's. I was going to fit Igus iglidur bearings which are the same size as the LM8 bearings.

I am currently busy with other projects, hope to continue with it during october

Any update for this yet? I was planning on attempting to print it today.

Hey, I have just returned to my printer after a looooong break. Managed to fine tune it for PLA. 3D benchy looks beautiful

Attempted to print this twice using two different slicer with no joy. I think it is my slice setting I guess. Going to attempt and find someone with simplity3d that can slice this for stock Da Vinci 1.0A with repetier 0.92 using ABS. Let you know if I get it printed.

Ok, keep us up to date
