This bow stabilizer was inspired by this one: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1152975
I wanted to create a simpler version of the bow stabilizer, that still retains it looks, and functionality. This version of the stabilizer will save you a lot of print time, and material. By using 4 used/old/found arrow shafts, this project will cost you only about $5.
3D Parts needed:
- 1x Receiver (1.25" OR 2")
- Rail (Need 1. Print as many as you would like)
- 1x Barrel
- 1x Flashhider OR Silencer (Optional, but it adds on to the looks of it.)
Parts required to assemble:
- 4x 7.8mm Arrow shafts
- 1x UNF 5/16*24 1.25" OR 5/16-24 2" bolt
- 1x M8 washer
- 1x M8 nut
- 1x M10 90mm
- 4x M10 nuts
(Notice! You may need to use a 5/16" drill bit to expand the arrow slots. If too loose, use silicone glue or hot glue to secure everything in place.)
- Receiver: If you printed the 1.25" or the 2" version, make sure your 5/16-24 bolt match accordingly. Place an M8 washer into the bottom(Square indent), and slide a bolt down through it. Secure it using an M8 bolt.
- Barrel & Flash hider: Insert the M10 90mm bolt from the bottom square face of the barrel. Secure it at the top with an M10 nut. Place up to 3 more M10 nuts at the end to increase weight
- Insert arrow shafts into the receiver.
- Slide rail(s) down the arrow shafts to align the arrows.
- Place barrel over the other end of the arrow shafts.
- Pressure fit muzzle device over barrel.
Drill out the arrow slots
You may find that the arrow slots are too small to put the arrows through. If that is the case, use a 5/16" drill bit to expand the holes. The arrows should not be able to be pressure fit into the stabilizer.
If the parts are too loose, I would recommend using silicone glue, or hot glue, to secure the parts. The good thing about these glues are that they are relatively sturdy, but you can take them apart if you want to reuse the pieces.
