This is awesome! So if I were to print this, the layers are far enough apart to be separated? The way I could really describe this is like support; I normally use a .125mm gap in between the interface layers and the part, so I was wondering if .3mm were too large of a tolerance.

I guess it doesn’t matter because I’ve already started the print...

Thanks Matthew for your comment and appreciation. :) The single STL file with all the pyramid parts assembled can be used in most filament-based 3D printers with standard print settings (such as 0.2 mm layer height). All parts touching the build plate will print perfectly. The few top parts will also print nicely but maybe get a bit stuck to the parts underneath. These can be easily be broken off from the rest.

We used standard settings as follows:

  • PLA filament
  • 2 perimeters
  • 15% infill
  • 50 mm/sec print speed
