This is an idea for a spice rack i had for a while. It is a beehive construct that is design to fit 18mm X 150mm test tubes.
(It also makes a pretty nice pencil holder when you screw up and make the cells too small for the test tubes.)
Collect the necessary parts. You will need however many test tubes (18mm x 150mm) you want, and the same number of #6 cork stoppers. (Optional: I also added labels using a label maker for ease of identification of spices.)
Print one cell first. It is important that you test the size of the cell on EVERY test tube as there are manufacturing deviations in their diameter that can be a problem. If the cell is too small scale it to suite.
Next print as many sets of three as you will need and wall support versions. (Note the wall support versions have slots in the back for mounting with screws.
- Then fuse all the cells together using ABS glue. (Note, that you will need far more than you would for smaller projects. I recommend working in a well ventilated area and mixing glue in a polished ceramic container like a small backing ramekin.)
OPTIONAL: I then "polished" the exterior with a coat of acetone for sheen.
