This 3 Gear demo shows how Palette+ can enable your single extruder printer to create models using dissolvable supports.
Printed in one piece, the gears move once the water-soluble supports have been removed.
Edit: See print settings! Will run into issues if not printed well, and may take some experimentation.
We used 25% infill and 2-3 shells for the PLA.
For the soluble support, we went with 0 bottom layers, 15% infill, 1 top layer, and 1 shell. We allowed the water-soluble support (in this case, Scaffold) to dissolve for 2 days, after which we used a knife to carefully scoop it out. Not all solubles take this long to dissolve; this was a test to learn how to print with Scaffold.
The key takeaway here is that water-soluble supports are not magical; it takes some effort and experimentation to learn how to print with them effectively.
