I'm also interested in how you sourced the cable (just a search term would be sufficient). It looks like you're using a cable inside a clear tube, which tells me that you didn't use a tachometer cable (the only search term that seems to work for me) and I totally understand that for the mass savings. However, it is obvious this isn't a generic cable ("wire rope") from Home Depot too (winding method is totally different).

Did you make any progress with your remote extruder? I'm interested in this solution, and would like to know where you bough your flexible shaft, and the worm gear...

I was thinking to use a Nema14: it has enough torque, and as it is lighter, higher accelerations can be used (it seems to be the issue with remote extruders high reductions).

Looks good, I like your idea! I've been thinking of trying a Zesty Nimble on my Kossel 250 so if I do I'll be sure to give this a try.

Out of curiosity, do you have any details for the rest of your home made flex drive? What are you using on the other end for an extruder?

Thanks! At the moment, it's a trial/error work in progress. Gears are tough to find, and not just any gears can survive inside these extruders...
