Was trying to see for sure before asking, but will this work with your 1405 Yaxis extension?

I have an adapter in those files for the cat track, but the 1405 frame does not have the raised wood section where the Printrboard mounts. You may have to get a little creative for the fixed end of the cat track.

Functionality request. I have used some other cable guides that have 170ish degrees of motion on the extruder mounted piece. I feel like it would not be that difficult to modify an optional part to accomplish this. Those of us that have the XL version have to worry about he guide hitting the top of the printer underneath the spooler mount. If the teeth could be lengthen on the mount and then rounded at the bottom instead of being flat this will allow the guide to break 90 degrees. I need it to travel this way when it hits the top VS jamming. What do you think?

Not sure if I follow your description. Can you direct me to the example other guides?

http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:16069http://www.thingiverse.com/thi... In this example all of the pieces are rounded at the ends so they can bend over 90degrees. I prefer your version because I can add / removed wires without running everything down the track every time.. So it would be nice to get a piece that perhaps converted from your style to this.. just one piece attached to a matching mounting piece should allow the track to bend over the top of the extruder instead of getting bound up.

TOM build platform cable management system

I uploaded an end that will bend +/- 45 degrees and a chain segment that can bend the same. Please let me know if they work.

I know some people are having problems with there y mount bumping into the base mount at a certain level with the Z axis. I made a model the that works, without that problem. Get the model here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:293630http://www.thingiverse.com/thi... hope it helps :)

Y mount fix

I know I already mentioned this in another thread but I thought I would repeat it here since this is the MOD that it pertains to. Would it be possible to modify the mount or build a simple mounting piece that we could screw into the TOWER add on? This will mount cant be installed on the XL this way. ... Thanks!

I also have the XL upgrade and modified the mount to work http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:315120http://www.thingiverse.com/thi...

Printrbot Simple XL Tower V2 Cable Management Mount

I will look into it.
I have been having trouble finding the CAD files for the tower, and I don't own a tower to use as a template. Printrbot supplies the CAD for the basic machine, but I have no luck on the tower modification.

Ok... I tried the new version.. I assembled the chain but have not installed it yet... it looks like it is going to greatly increase the flexibility. I will let you know when I get it installed....

I have one more question and its probably a stupid one...What wire do i use to build this? gauge, core, ect Thanks in advanced for the help.

The hot end is really the only item that has any real current draw. The largest the connectors will accept is 20AWG, so I would use 20AWG with as many conductors as you can find. The more flexible the better. For the other items something like 22 or 24 AWG will work fine, but once again as many conductors as your budget will allow. The more conductors a wire contains, the more flexible it will be.

Did you have to buy longer connector cables to make this work or are the stock cables long enough?

Longer cables will be necessary. I have included in the documents part numbers for the cable ends so you can make your own.

Do you have a cheap place to buy all these connectors because i added it up on amazon and it came out to over $100

I got mine from http://www.digikey.com/http://www.digikey.com/
Another option is http://www.newark.com/http://www.newark.com/

You will find much better pricing there. You can also substitute standard connectors instead of the gold plated ones listed to save a couple pennies.

Thanks again mate that's a whole lot cheaper LOL

Very nice. Thank you :D

great.
makes your printrbot a lot more professional thanks.
