I printed mine but the extractor piece could be a little larger. The circular geometry is spot on but there's a considerable amount of slop with the extractor when it's sitting in the rectangular groove of the cylinder. I'll take my micrometer to work with me tomorrow to get some measurements but I think it's just too much room given for printer accuracy tolerances.

how did you manage to get the grooves? I can't seem to do it right using Solidworks.

Its been a while but I think I just created a "bullet" shape, arrayed it around the cylinder and differenced them out. HTH

I tried printing this and half way through it slid around on my heated glass printbed, ruining the print! Has anyone else had that happen to them?

Sounds like you need to rub some acetone on the surface to get rid of skin oils.

Nice design, I shall be printing it just as soon as my black pla arrives, hopefully tomorrow :)

I'm wondering about adding a hole to the base that could be filled with pennies/other cheap weights, would that be useful or is it stable enough as is?

Its pretty stable as long as you dont fill it with anything thats too top heavy. Might not work to well if you load it with a bunch of heay handeled screwdrivers. But I doubt you could fill it with enough pennies to offset something like that. Best advice would be to glue the top and bottom together. Should be plenty stable at that point. Look forward to seeing your print!

Cool design, looks good and is useful :) it does hold a sharpie btw

Mine holds six sharpies at the same time! Great item to get conversations started.
