There are a number of different Monoprice Ultimate / Wanhao D6 fan duct replacements out there, but they seem complicated, large, and encumbered the heat sink cooling. This design takes the lightweight design from JGTMaker and makes it blower compatible. Many of the blowers either didn't use all 3 of the original mounting screws, or added structure for custom mounts to keep the ducts from sagging. I tried to keep this as simple, compact, and light as possible.
I have not run any tests yet, and if any of you have, please share the results.
I've runs prints (not tests) with 60d overhang and was successful when I wasn't before, so it is doing what I need it to do.
Added a new version for you folks having sagging issues with JGTMaker's original version using the stock fan, the blower modification inherently has more support, but I added a 2nd version with additional support for the cantilevered part of the ring. Until I have sagging issues, I will not print and mount it, but if you folks print it post you've made it, and let us know how it is working for you.
Modified V3 with additional support to V4 to redirect the airflow down a little. One user said the blower might be cooling the extruder tip too much and was causing errors. Haven't tested it, but I hope it works.
V6 has additional openings to redirect the airflow down more, and reduce the air hitting the extruder tip. Haven't printed or tested it, but I hope it works.
V7 has addressed sagging over time and wire binding. I've been using V2 for more than a year, and recently it has been catching on my prints, causing layer shifting. After printing V6 I found the added cantilever was also binding the wires to the heater block. Didn't know this since I didn't use it, nor did I get any feed back from other users. So V7 is available, and hopefully I have most of the bugs worked out.
In attempt to minimize supports, I added removable material at the recessed screw mounts, and the duct only needs a small handful of 1mm supports at the transition point just in front of the blower opening. The rings doesn't need any support.
