I had some 1515 open beams left from a printer build and I needed a new Filament Spool Holder. So I came up with this.
Depending on how long your open beams are you can change the high, but you need one open beam with a minimum length of 120mm (this is for the horizontal open beam, 120mm just!!! fits on the edges of the bracket). For sure you also could print some kind of 1515 open beam.
Spools with a maximum width of 112mm will fit.
Made a holder for Taulman Spools
It stands really good and the Spool does´t wobble around.
The base is 150mm x 150mm.
With good cooling settings you don´t need Support.
I printed in Hatchbox ABS, 235°C on Nozzle, 75°C heated bed, 45mm/s speed, 0.2mm layer, 12% Infill 3 outer lines with Raft and Support. Using 3DLac and Simplify3D.
The base fits the beams really tight, you can print (especially with ABS) a bit bigger, 0.2-0.3% would be enough. If you have some play with the beams you can use some M3x8mm screws and nuts to fasten the beams to the base and bracket.
You also can use PLA or PETG, but non too flexible Material because this should be stable ;-).
Turn the Bracket around so that the slot for the horizontal open beam is on top.
No need to do anything. If you use Raft/Support, for sure you need to clean this.
I used Fusion 360 to design this. With Fusion 360 it is really easy to create such an object like this, especially the rounded shapes.
