I measured the holes in sketchup as 25mm. A £1 coin is 22.5mm, so if you print in ABS (2% shrinkage) then print the whole model at 96% and it should then give you a 1mm clearance.

The other problem with the novel rubber band solution, and with the arrangement of the hooks, is surely that it won't be driven up to the top (and in fact can't travel up to the top once the hooks meet each other) so you can't get the last 3 or 4 coins out without tipping it upside down?

I was going to print this but can't see the diameters anywhere to find out if it will work with British coinage. Also, I like the idea of trying rubber bands rather than a spring but does it work? Can you stretch a rubber band as much as you can compress a spring? Presumably it will be quite loose when nearly empty and very tight when full?

has anyone had any luck printing this ? having trouble visualizing how it fits together
