*Small update v2
-Experimented with thickness a bit, v2 is 3mm thick
-Added extra support beams for the motor mounts
-increased the size of the center hole for the motors
-changed the center mount configuration to increase compatibility
-added a 20x20 mount plate to mount a minimosd micro chip (zip-tie)
-added a 30x30 mount plate to mount a minimosd micro chip (zip-tie)
I changed my configuration to a push-quad. The motors are mounted upside down.
I'm very new to the hobby and wanted an indoor FPV quad. Ofcourse you can buy a "Ready to Fly" quad, but i enjoy building and designing the parts and configuration. It also helps me understand the technology of drones better.
The parts i bought for this drone are very inexpensive, i think the total was about 100-110 euro. I just got the cheapest components i could find on BG unless i knew the quality needed to be better.
The frame supports 2.75" (ish) props, I bought 3" and used a dremel setup to cut them down to 2.75".
Had my maiden hover with a heavy lipo (2s-2700mAh), because i have yet to receive the batteries. (2s&3s lipo).
Below is the list of components i've used, I would change a few components if i had to do it over again. Mainly the motors, i would get motors that'd support 3s lipos. The ones i use now should be okay, but no guarantees. The
(i'm not sponsored by BG, they just have cheap stuff)
Flight controller Running betaflight
1306 4000KV motors or for 3s you could use 1306 3100KV motors
3045 props cut down to 2.75"
2S 850mAh lipo for "safe & slow" flights
3S 1000mAh lipo *can not recommend, officially not supported by the motors
Nylon standoffs 35mm
Nylon m3 screws
Additionally you need some short nylon standoffs for the FC and ESC, some cables etc.
I will be adding a led-strip, OSD, buzzer and battery-monitor. You really want to know when you're battery is low, lipos don't handle "empty" very well.
The leds mainly for safety, light up when armed. The OSD for battery status when flying FPV and the buzzer for locating the drone when "lost"
Not included in the list are goggles, and RX/TX. These will probably set you back another 100 euro depending on your demands.
