im gonna make and switch it around for a step up gear box. the torque looks like its in my range of a 127 N-m much less than my current setup. just learning about planetary gears at university. its nice as long as i get enough torque on my windmill. final project due in 6 months haha

The stepper will always give you the best torque when moving at a slow angular velocity. See here for a typical curve. If it is precission what you need, you should consider always microstepping first, as the backlash on these 3d printed parts is rather bad. I have tested the gearbox and it can work at full load with no problems. The gearbox works best when finished with slight abrasive. What I did was putting scratch removal cream inside and turned it for 15 minutes. After that it works really smooth. Also, buy good drivers.

It's gear ratio is 4.444:1 (40:9 for those who dislike decimals). [from the original design]
