Please refer to the inner reel for the reel???.

Thanks mightynozzle for the make. I remixed your part for some more length on the front tab so it doesn't slip off and added more spine to the back. Here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3144890

Reinforced top spool holder remix

Works pretty good! Used the updated adapters mentioned in the description. Just enough room on the rod for all the nuts, washers, spool and adapters. I put a nut on either side of the adapters to keep them from sliding out of the spool. Gotta go find my next print to test it out but seems like it rolls nice and smooth.

I think that this design is nice and I printed one, but it is too under constrained for me to trust it to print stuff without me there. it is a bit wonky and needs to be constrained top and bottom. I do like many of the features of it and it is a great idea, it just needs some work. I will eventually remix the design and I look forward to the original designers reviews/ideas/comments. The features I will keep are the use of gravity to hold it in place. The things I will change is I will attach the two uprights to each other and make them and the filament spool to be a single rigid assembly. Thank you.

Unfortunately doesn't fit my Anet A8 (see attached) which doesn't have the LCD screen on the top crossbar. Bought last week (Jul 2018). Not sure whether this is a new version of the A8 or old stock I got cheap!
It's a lovely part, however, and printed really well.

Is that kit an original Anet? Never saw a crystal clear edition from Anet3D. And no, it only fits on the original A8 with the black acrylic frame.

I assumed it was, bought from Amazon. I am completely new to this so bow to your knowledge! Here's the link to what I bought which I guess must be a clone then?? http://amzn.eu/doWBK9h

Thank you for this post. It fits well with my new A8 and helps my spool from running all over the place. also save me a lot of space on my workbench. Great design too.

if you don't like it go and make one yourself, you are not buying anything, it's free. Don't act like a prick.

Check out the position of the holder on the 3rd picture.

Do you have the file or link to the 2 clips you have on the rod to control side to sided motion?

Look one question below.

Able to link to the thing holding the spool? Like the wedges that hold the bearings?

Wich bearings are these? I suppose 608 bearings?

Yes, these are 608 bearings.

Worked nicely for a while, but when I got a new spool, it was too heavy and broke, taking down half the printer with it one night.

Oh, this is bad. Do you have a picture of it, or could you tell me the position, where it breaks? Do also have information about the filament you used for the holder?

and I may have exaggerated "half the printer"

Great design tho, I love it

the print head jerks to the side when it's done printing, and the filament was full, and it just pulled it off

Works fine for me, thanks!

Thanks for the design!

It does fit a bit loose on the frame but the brackets don't seem to go anywhere.

not very sturdy...guess i should have checked first.
not useable for me that way.
though the design looks great.

Thanks for this design! I created a remix with a clip on the bottom because it feels safer with it.

I also thought about that during I create the holder, but it is not necassary. Because of the overhang of the spool the force pull at the upper clip and the back of the holder pushes against the screen brace. But the problem with the clip at the bottom is the extruder, if you print bigger objects. Is there enough space between the extruder and this clip + 1.75mm filament at Z>=200? And check, if the filament didn't touch this bottom clip during X moves at Z>=0.

I couldn't find the honeycomb pattern in cure will other patterns work?

You can try it with the standard grid infill.

I think this design really looks cool. Thanks for sharing.

What frame bracing is that in the picture?

Thanks :)
The frame brace in the picture is "Anet A8 Brackets to Reduce X-Axis Motion" by Leo_N: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1872162
