I'm new to 3D printing and this was one of the first things I printed because I liked the design in theory...

But I got a lot of binding and ended up needing to remove the guide. I'm not sure if it was caused by kinks when trying to feed the filament or friction from the curve. In fairness Cura did add supports in the feed channel (tube), but it came right out and was pretty clean. Like I said, I'm only a week in, coming form the hobby cnc world.

I think a larger or maybe more oval opening and feed channel would help out a lot. I might give it a try.

Thanks for the design though! It printed out beautifully, it's quite a shame I can't use it :-/

Printed at 0.1313 layer height.

How does this one work for you? It worked for me, and the prints came out fine. I made this one because I liked the funnel end. However, I felt that this one creates a lot of friction. It scrapes loudly. The bend is too fast and creates a kink for the filament. Perhaps with a curve that doesn't quite reach 90 degrees will do the trick. I may or may not remix this within the next few months, but if I do I will attribute.

I total agree as well. Originally I really liked the whole idea and look but in practice the 90 degree turn is to much for stiff PLA filament. Increasing the friction exponentially which is obviously defeating the whole purpose of smooth filament flow. I went back to the non-coned version.

I'm going to have to agree on this. It makes way too much noise. Most likely from the cone portion.

I don't hear it scrape so much but i do agree that the curve is too tight, it makes changing filaments unpleasant.

I'm also unsure that the opening on top is of any use. I may work on a closed guided version with a softer curve. Not in the short term though.

Another improvement I can see is the hole in the funnel which has a flat side, to make it round as well. That's where a significant amount of the bite was coming from.

Noted, thanks for the feedback.
