Awesome idea! I have a suggestion for something cool: add some type of clip functionality of something like that so that it can also work as a bookmark - That way, it's extra useful and it won't get lost because it'll always be clipped onto the book! Just an idea.

What is the difference between the 2 STLs?

One has a rounded edge.

Put my thumb all the way in while joking with a friend, had to separate the part into clumps of layers and cut each clump separately with a scissor to get it off my thumb, it also began swelling a bit(the thumb, not the part).
I am serious.
It was hilarious.
10/10, I am printing one again.
Printed in petg, layer height 0.2, wall thickness 0.8(thank god).

Boy I am glad it came off (the part, not the thumb) and I totally agree: it's definitely not a one-size-fits-all! But you could sale it up a little.

3D printed using 1.75mm PLA and works like a charm

I recently learned to use our laser cutter and appreciated the simplicity of this project to practice. I modified it slightly to make use of the hole, & add personalization — all good skills to for a beginner. Thanks for the great idea!

Little more pressure and it'll work *#'gnnn ;)

We made 3 of these last night using hard wood. ( 1/4 inch Hard Maple, Purple Heart and a Walnut)
We used the 45 Watt epilog laser cutter ( Settings 50/100/500)
I am very happy the design was easy and did three passes to get all the way though. I cleaned off the soot with a rag and water. Will oil them today. Thinking of making one for each of my family.

I'm fairly new to 3D printing ... is hard wood a material you can print with?

Hi Mike, there are wood-like filaments, but I used a cnc-router to cut the holder.

Great to hear you like the design. Don't hesitate to show the makes. So far only printed versions came to life.
