great model but all the detail pieces seem to lay flat in the slicer (cura) seems like they should be curved. is something I'm doing wrong?

I just remember, i printed it with cura slicer, too. it worked fine. sry cant help you with that problem.

Has anyone else had problems printing Faceplate2? I have tried every orientation and cannot get it to print. I even brought the part a few millimeters below the z axis to give the part a flatter surface.

I tried printing the inner parts of 1-11 and after 3 failed attempts on layer 3 I finally noticed that some pieces in the package are not flat. Had to import them all and reorganize them then re-save as an stl. I have attached the new one here. I have not looked at the other batch of parts as i am not there yet.

Sehr gute arbeit!!!

Y-Achse gedreht.
Mit Support und Raft. Hoffe das Hilft dir.

Extrem geniale Arbeit! Danke dafür! Freue mich schon aufs Zusammenbauen!

Does anybody have a solution for the eyepiece? i don't want to by extra clear filament just for the eyes :D

What orientation should this be when printed to not need supports? I printed a test at 25% scale and it did okay except for the lip at the bottom of the upper face plate piece. At full scale that would be a big gap to bridge.

to print the faceplate without Support seems not possible to me.
But the best way would be to turn the faceplate part 1 on the top and the part to around 30-45 degree to the front

How did you install the LEDs in your eyes ? because I use a small piece of LED ribbon but we see through the eyes the pixels of the LEDs while at home your eyes have a diffused light
Thank you :)

in fact Fotos are a bit better than the real one. You can buy diffuse leds that works a bit better

Ok tanks you ;)

Just got my printer and I'm itching to make this. Job well bloody done it's awesome.

making a baby version of the two halfs to see how it prints so far so good

Hi DaDave,

Hey, man I am 95% done with my build. The only real trouble I am having is nailing the paint job for the exterior of the face plate. It looks like in your description that a friend did the "sanding" but do you have any more information on the paint job (i.e. kind of paint used, how many coats, clear coat?) Thanks!

Hey screamindemon06,
I normally use "duplicolor" car paint, and also their primer. I used cheap boddyfiller also used for cars. The brand I used was "presto", but I think for paint and for the filler you could also use other products. You migh need to sand it 3 times or more. If you use a sprayfiller it might also help. But sanding is the most terrifying job ^^

Pretty good Pictures of the steps. Really nice Work!

Thank you for creating these models! This has been a lot of fun to build! It looks amazing on my desk at work haha :)
I'll have a build page up in a few days on http://followalongwith.us. I made a quick video too, https://youtu.be/yuJI9dsq1C8.

How do you glue items on the inside of the face plate when the plastic is so hard? Did you do something to warp them first?

"You will need a heat-blower to form them." Quote from the discription.
I used hotglue. It is easy but it is not that strong.

this was sooo amazing. i'm a big fan iron man fan and i really really love to have one of this. i was wondering if you are selling the one you made? or can you make one for me and sell it to me? hopefully you see this. this is my Email. knivescleo@yahoo.com

Very nice, i don't supposed you made a build video?

Not yet, but I do not think this will be my last one :-)
If I just had more time....

I can appreciate a build/tutorial video is not a simple thing to do. I will keep my fingers cropssed that hopefully one day you find the time, it would be a massive help to those of use not as gifted when it comes to the task of creating such wonderful models. Thanks for sharing.

Can you upload a picture, where the leds are placed?

It is Part09. There you see 4 small holes on the top. I can try to make a picture, but I think you will not see much on it.

No picture needed anymore. Thanks for the quick response. Indeed part 09 is good enough.

thanks for sharing! :)

Could you make a model for the rest of the helmet :). that would be so cool!!

Just check the files from MIPRESIDENTE. There ist the full helmet. That is the mask I used here. They are in a link in the discription.

Very nice. I gotta make one sometime!

This is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing :-)
