Base gets glued to the electronics compartment using super glue.
Push the pushbutton leads through the switch backing, push the backing up into the electronics compartment with the buttons through, and hot glue it in place. You can wire leads before or after they are in place if you are careful.
I wired ribbon cable to the LEDs and pulled the cable through the holes and put a spot of hot glue where the circuit board sits on the plastic to hold it in place.
Then the electronics can be all wired together.
Power and ground to all the LED's, one digital output pin from the Arduino into the data in on the first LED, then chain the data outs to data ins of the other LEDs, the last LED's data out is not used.
Put ground to one side of both push buttons and then wire the other side of them to two of the digital inputs on the Arduino.
I did add a capacitor to the 5V line in from the barrel jack and then wired the power from there to the Arduino and all the LED boards, you could probably chain the power and ground board to board, but I had the room and didn't want any lights dimmer than another from voltage drops in the wires.
