I lust printed this to hold a "GoCam" that I got for $20 at Home Depot. It works perfectly! Thanks!

Did anyone try to make a Logitech C922 or a screw mount for this?

Open to making the base a bit larger to fit the lcd backpac ?? i have the hero 4 black with the screen add on.

I can update the dimensions if open to the idea :)

Sure. Can you give me the dimension of the fottprint? Best with a picture.

Hi there, sorry for the delay. Tried to take detailed pics with a micro caliper.

Hero 4 black measurements added below to compare to your current thresholds.
Base specs (without LCD)

  • 59 mm long
  • 21 mm wide (depth)

Hero4+ with Lcd backpac

  • 59 mm long
  • 31 mm wide (depth)

Let me know if it looks good.

Thanks !

(STL will be online in a minute)

Awesome, model looks great. I actually printed the hero3 with usb access and used it last night.

The opening for the usb is great but if it was just a bit wider (towards the center) you could get the SD card out without removing it from the dock. I used a sharp knife and cut the opening a bit.

Are you also familiar with the prusa bear upgrade ?? might be neat if the arm was made to fit onto the prusa frame, Right now it hits one of the mounts as they are different in layout than the original rods. I use the mount on the left side.

The bear upgrade is absolutely stunning for the mk2(s). I have the partial upgrade where I retained the main metal frame and just rebuilt the base. No more threaded rods :)

Prusa i3 Bear Upgrade v2.0

I'll have a look on the opening.

Yes I know the bear mod and I am currently buying stuff to upgrade my printer ;-) Where exactly do you wish to mount the camera ? the cnc cut metal prusa frame? or the aluminium extrusion? Is it currently colliding with the mount shown in the picture?

FYI: There is also a version available for I-type extrusions: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2817789

For those that are interested I also made a remix to fit the standard gopro mount. Hope this helps out! https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2817226

Standard GoPro Mount for Sliding Bracket

I also made a remix of the sliding bracket for the Prusa i3 MK3. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2790787 Feel free to try it out and if there needs to be any adjustments, let me know. Thanks!

Prusa i3 MK3 Camera Holder

I made a remix of the GoPro Hero 5 Black (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2024912) to make the GoPro a bit more snug and also allow the mini-HDMI and USB-C ports accessible. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2790709 Hope this helps others out.

Could you add a bracket that would attach to the MK3 bed?

Hey JC507, I made a remix. Try it out and let me know if it works okay for you. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2790787 Hope this helps!

Will the original go pro fit?

Th very first GoPro model? I think this model was significantly larger. Tell me the footprint and I will create a matching model.

Using your remix. Luv the mount. I made it too close too big.

Hehe. Awesome timelapse :-)

This was a great design, thanks for sharing your mods. The bracket fit under the MK2S's print bed perfectly. The screw needed to be worked but I got it.

Anyway turns out the dimensions of the YI 4k+ are bigger then the older YI action cam used by Mikolaszuza. The new 4k+ dimensions on the bottom are 21.5mm x 65.2mm, mind making a base for it?
Thanks

Here you go!

Let me know how well it fits the 4K+ .

Got it printed. Fits like a glove.

But they moved the usb port to the side bottom of the cam. Won't be able to use usb power for longer timelapse sessions. Currently would only be to able to use cam on battery power.
I'll see if I can send pic's to your account. Needs a slot for the usb cable perhaps.
Thanks for trying.

I hope the updated model solves this problem :-)

Cheers

Slightly off, but close. Opening needs to be adjusted to the left a little more.

Sorry. I estimated the hole position only from the pictures.

I updated the stl-file again. I hope this is it now.

I should have put a ruler in the shots. Thanks for trying only from pics. Third times a charm.
Fits Yi 4K+ perfect. USB slot is perfectly positioned now.

Thank You.

Have fun printing !

Update:
I just noticed you changed the link. On the weekend, I will adapt the model and post another stl-file tailored for your camera.

Original text:
Use the "cam_holder_yi.stl" for "Yi action cam (footprint: 21x60mm²)" . I re-checked the dimensions on YI's website. Seems fine. If you have any troubles let me know. Its quite easy to adapt the model to another footprint.

Posted the corrected STLs here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2350908

I think it would be great if you made a different thing file for the Gopro Hero 5 Black.

This is available here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2024912

Alternatively, if you give the footprint of the 5 Black, I'll add another file.

By footprint do you mean size, it is 2.4in (61.7mm) wide, 1.7in (44.4mm) tall, and 0.9in (24mm) deep.

i have installed the stl files and the gopro holder is very small compared to all the other parts

See: "IMPORTANT INFO: For some odd reason, some .stl files are properly opened in several programs, but appear 10 times smaller in Slic3r -> use scale 1000% in this case."

This issue is caused by some mis-conversion from mm to cm in the .stl export.

Would it be better to print in abs due to the heatbed?

I didn't tested so holder while using high heatbed temperatures yet. It seems like the bottom side of the heatbed is slightly colder than the top, so it might be fine using PLA. Otherwise, you would be on the safe side if you print it in ABS.

i already have abs hooked up, so i might just shoot that out anyway, don't want the holder bending backwards in timelapse haha

On the other hand, timelapse with slow moving cameras can be pretty nice. :-) You would save a lot of money compared to a complicated servo controlled cam holder :-)

For some reason when I import any of the STL into either S3D or Prusa Slic3r, the model seems to be 1/10 of the correct scale. I don't know, maybe some mm->cm mixup or it could be just the software reading the scale incorrectly, no idea.

Yes. I described this in the summary. It is exactly a factor of 10. Pretty sure its some mm/cm conflict. However it appears not in every software. -> Scale it to 1000% in Slic3r

Perhaps I put my remark on this issue more visible to the top in the summary.

I made this and love it. Here's my make:

This is cool! Is it possible to make the camera holder customizable for different cameras? Mine is a clone and it has slightly different dimensions, i.e. 59.2mm x 24.8mm.

Very good idea. I will look into that.
