Hi There,
Do you have the model number or an ebay link for the motor used fro the lift. i just purchased one that i thought was he same as whats in your video and it too big.
Thanks in advance

hi there, will this all fit on an aluminium frame and i was also wondering is if the leg rotations would work and be powerful enough for an aluminium droid? great work btw

Unlikely, I’m redesigning soon anyhow as I wasn’t 100% happy with the power / speed.

Great work!

Is it possible to configure/build the center leg without the lift mechanism temporarily? I'm hoping I can put R2 together and work with the motorized leg at another time.

Hi, yes the centre leg has 4 fixed bolts in the build so it's easy to bolt to a plate. I'd probably just use a plywood plate cut to shape and mount inside the frame, the leg and foot should just bolt to the wood. (I've not done this but the centre leg design has just four bolts and a flat mounting.

Thank you very much for the tips and for doing this!

Hi MrBaddeley, Do you think you can link me the bearings you used, and the type of fixing pins/bolts used please. Appreciate it.

11pcs 3 Pins Pots Rotary Taper Adjustment Potentiometer B10K 10K ohm https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00JR6HZLK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_HO2yyb2NK3XMG This is the pot I used for feedback to the arduino.

Hi there, I used 606ZZ and 608ZZ bearings (6mm and 8mm). For the nuts and bolts I used a variety, but mostly 3mm threaded bolts with locking nuts (some cut down with a dremel). Small self tapping screws also.

Also, and what you put in the lift arm. Was it a bearing?

Yup, there a bearing in the lift arm.

Thank you.
The only part i am unable to find is the bearings for the lift mechanisms, is it possible to show us a photo of it. and a link to where you got it. The 8 bearings on the lift cart. Thanks

Great stuff, I'm a good way through theR2 build utilising your files. Thanks so much for sharing them!
I'm going with Dwarf's mechanism for the 3rd leg mechanism though, you should check his out if you havent already, it works just like the movie and is basically silent.

Cool, have you got a link (and is it printed?).

On the Astromech, in the Styrene build section there is a thread called "Styrene 2-3-2" that has details.
It is pretty easily adapted to 3D printing.

Omg this is amazing!! Thanks so much for the hard work, I have been endlessly printing everything on 2 printers non stop. Definitely a challenge!

Should be finishing the last of my dome pieces this weekend. Leg rotation mechanism is next, I guess I should lump this in with that one.

I'm going to need more silver - and I just put in an order for white (stocking up for skins and legs).

My man : ) ; ) : ) : ) ; ) Looking great. Now that's a whole new take on the original design : ) Gotta love progress. I'm very excited for your latest release!
That is looking brilliant. Just when you thought awesome was good, you just stepped it up a brand new level of excellence. I'm speechless!

wow, this is something else.. nice done :D

Hi, I've added a pot bracket and arm to measure the angle back to an Ardunio along with a mounting plate for the L298N driver. Now it's fitted it really works well.
