I was a tad disappointed to find someone else made this before I did, but it's incredible, phenomenal job. I've got the hilt printing as I type.

I was wondering how you went about modeling the grained surface for the hilt? I use Rhino as well and I'd love to know what techniques you used.

I exported a lofted object out of rhino as an OBJ into ZBrush and used a wood grain alpha to apply it the surface then re-exported and brought it back into rhino

I am using an Ender 3. I have tried to print this thing about 6 times now. I have tried using wood PLA, regular PLA and even PETG. I can't get a good print out of this thing. It stops in the middle if I lay it flat, do it at the angle uploaded or even doing the split grip.

I have access to a monoprice mini delta but the print is too large to do even as a split. Help?

That's very strange! What slicer are you using? I'll reupload the STL just in case.

I can't open grip shield B for some reason or another. Did anyone else have this problem ?

Edit: after re-downloading I was able to open, never mind.

I've tried printing the emitter piece about 5 times today and it always fails at the exact same point. I believe that I've ruled out any error on my part of my printer's. It just prints about half and then either stops or prints a layer of air and then continues printing on top of that so it just breaks in the middle.

only "issue" i have, and this is a super nitpick, but on the split guard the middle section for the top guard isnt connected to anything so allignment is a bit hard, otherwise awesme model and im printing in Formfutura Easywood PLA!

It is difficult, I initially tried to add some way of aligning everything and in the process of adding the wood grain, I had botched them a bit, but I prioritized that texture

This is a great design. Love the wood grain!

could you put this grain pattern on the temple guard saber? On the "grip inner" part. I really love the detail you put in to these sabers!

Thank you! That's a great idea, I may revisit that saber soon to do a folding version anyways!

What is the size for this? Im thinking about printing it! I looks absolutely outstanding. I was just searching for wands for my Harry Potter club, and I had the bright idea, "Guys, I found the perfect wand!", and I searched for lightsabers.

That's awesome! It's about 12 inches long

So, question what's up with the little strip at the apex of the arch in the back of the emitter, should that be there or not? different slicers are treating it differently. ran it through 3d builder and it removed it. just wanted to see what the intent for it was. left is post 3dbuilder right is original

I don't think that should be there, I'll re-export and upload a new version

finally an excuse to use wood PLA which isnt Groot

Exactly! You can play hard mode and print all of Chirrut's staff in wood, I'm still waiting to see someone do that

Hi, do you have print recommandations or a sliced version of the grip ? It's too long for my printer.

Thx

Send me a message with your email and I can send you a split version of the grip, I don't want to add too many STLs to this post

I changed my mind after someone else asked and uploaded a split version of the grip!

what's the smallest diameter of this print?.

The bottom of the grip tapers to a little below an inch I believe
