Printed the 1x1 and the 2x1, both of them turned out beautifully! Kept the heat and the feed rate average and they printed out with no issues.

Considering I'm new to 3D printing, thank you for the easy tasks.

I LOVE the floors that go with this wall. However my Dungeon Master asked me to shave some of the base height off (Which shortened the print time and amount of PLA) They came out SO well (my first use of Open S cad. However when I tried the same with the wall I could not render or save the file (the quick render showed exactly what i wanted). Apparently there's a floor in the wall, I've tried mesh mixer etc to try and fix the model but have had no luck (But I AM a newbie) Do you have ANY idea how i can shave 7 mm off the base?
Of not don't worry, i'll keep searching, but I must stress, your model is FANTASTIC and i'm VERY grateful for your hard work.

What you want to do is this. Download Blender. Blender has a high learning curve, but I can take you through here how to do something like this.

Open blender, and when you do, there will be a cube in the center. on the righthand side of blender, you will see a set of menus. on the very edge of those menus, there's a small grey tab with a + in it. click that, and it will open a second set of menus.

Right click on the cube to select it.

Under "Scale", set the scale to 150, 150, 7

go to the file menu, and import stl to bring in the tile.

Select the tile by right clicking on it.

On the right hand set of tools/menus, look for a wrench and click that, you should see a new menu with a dropdown that says Add Modifier.

Click that and select boolean. Under operation, select difference, then select the cube.

If this does not work, jiggle the tile by adding 0.01 or -0.01 to x, y or z of the tile until the boolean succeeds.

Can you make a file with just the floor tiles and no wall?

I printed two of the larger ones 4x3 and 4x4 and both of them had some separation on the wall, just after the floor printed.

I'm using ABS - think this is an issue with premature cooling? Everything else looks good (1st print was at 10% infill, 2nd print at 20% infill and still same issue.)

Here's what I have:
from left to right (all ABS)

4x4 10% infill crack right above ground/platform, then about a layer up; 4x3 20% infill crack right above ground/platform; 4x1 30% infill same; 4x2 30% infill NO Cracks! :)

The last two I printed out at the same time, wall to wall on my Lulzbot Mini - but I put a black trashbag around it to try and serve as a low budget enclosure. I think this is the key. However it's really interesting that it cracks / has poor layer adhesion right at this point. The largest one I had to glue back together.

Overall, I'm super pleased with these, just learning the ropes of printing.

Ok, so yeah, I would guess this is just figuring out the right parameters for your printer with ABS.

Which software did you use to create this? I want to make something similar to replace the cardboard tiles for the Dungeons and Dragons Boardgames such as Castle Ravenloft and Wrath of Ashardalon.

This set was built using:

Scupltris to create the stones
OpenSCAD to cut them into faces that could be added to a back
OpenSCAD to add those faces to lines
Blender to merge the lines together into walls.

OpenSCAD fails frequently if the object becomes too complex, which is why I had to use it to create parts that I merged together in blender.

I no longer really use that process anymore, I do most of my work in blender, with openscad just to create untextured primative shapes that I import into blender and then texture and merge into a single model.

Are the bases hollow?

These no. The new Openforge 2.0 stuff uses a replaceable base, with the main one having a hallow center and holes around the sides for magnets.


OpenForge 2.0 Cut Stone Wall

These are great! So I decided to print each of the basic types of this stone set at 100 micron resolution, (took about 4.5 hours each) and then molded them with silicone rubber. Now I am using a figure casting resin and getting solid copies of the 100 micron resolution print with about 15 minutes demold time per copy. Plan to make a set of at least 100 pieces with these. Will post some images soon of how it looks casting this from resin. Great work devonjones!

These are looking fantastic; I was working on something like this using Seej wall bricks and other wall models recently and this will make a nice addition to the overall scenery and setup. What's your software of choice for designing - I move between zBrush, TinkerCad and Fusion/Inventor.

To make these I had to flow through a lot of tools.
Here's the workflow:

1) I used Sculptris to design 5 stone blocks (1 for the flooring, 4 to be used for the wall facing. I exported those ad obj files.
2) I used meshconv on those obj files to make them into stl files
3) I used openscad to design the floors, walls, and to create a library of trimmed faces that I can use as the visible parts of the blocks
4) I took all the parts, and put them together with blender. I would have preferred to use openscad, but the final models have ~ a million faces and that was well past what openscad could handle.

All the source is in the zip file, so if you want to be able to use the same stone blocks and remix them, they are in there.

These are phenomenal. Do you have any eventual plans to do the cavern-style Dwarven Forge tiles?

That's my hope. I don't actually have any of the cavern set, so I may just make compatible tiles that are inspired by the same basic idea.

I'm hoping to finish up the dungeon set with angles and curves, and figure out how to do doors that will work, then move on to a wood/plaster set and then tackle caverns. I expect caverns to be much harder, so I'm looking to pick up skills along the way.
