I'm having trouble getting the hinges to work. It looks like I need an extra curved piece to glue in on each side to hold close up the hinge so the bottom doesn't keep falling off.

Hello, tried to print this great work. Unfortunately I wasn't able to slice the bigger part, and the preview looked very destroyed. Is there a way to fix that?

how are you trying to slice it?

I would suggest using a different slicing program.

I'm using "Slicer", are you sure that could be the problem?

I am having the same issue in both Slic3r and PrusaControl. Did you find a solution? Flip piece printed great.

@vesperk38 - this is terrific. I have the Playmates toy version and the flip part is virtually identical.

Hello Guys,

at first: thanks for the great model. I printed it in 50 microns layer hight.. took me 1,5 days for both parts together. I changed the orientation so that the inside don't show the little steps.. that means that I had to support the hole model with a few mm on the outside. I expected that the outside won't look that nice, but it's easier to fix that with a bit of bondo and sandpaper then to sand down the steps with all the details on the inside.

But unfortunately I noticed a litte mistake on your model. Please check the hinges on the bottom part, they are not symmetric. On one side its a bit smaller then the rest.. I will try to fix it with bondo... don't have the time to print the part again before the convention at the weekend starts. I will cast the model in resin, so no one will notice after I'm finished.

Im definitely not a nativ english speaker... hope you was able to understand everything.

Dear sygro,

Thank you for your correction. I apologize but i have been very busy with building an actual functioning tricorder. It was first attempt ever at cading the tricorder. I will eventually get to making a second render. If you have access to any diagrams dimentions sticker decals anything accurate about eh original tricorder so I can make an even more accurate model would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Is there any chance to get hold of the CAD files for the bottom part to fix the hinge by myself? It's the left hinge... there's 1mm missing on the left round thingi, and the right round thingi of the left hinge seems to be 1mm shifter to the left side... I tested it, but I can't fix it with bondo so that it is invisible at the end. Or can someone explain to me how I can fix it in the STL file. Need it for the weekend =\

I will keep my eyes open, but I thing you can't do it more accurate like it is now! It's great work in general!

thank you so much, i will get on fixing that

@cyberwolf ill see what i can do about my decals i preped, if i can find them i will release them with he next update. if it comes ive been focusing on and actual tricorder

Where are the decals for this? The ones uploaded are really blurry.

i lost the good ones after i switched computers

This is fantastic! Just submitted to my local library to get them to print it off. I'm glad you added in the images to glue on, I wouldn't want to try and paint that

looks great thanks for the model. have you thought a bout making it hollow for electronics to go in?

whoa! great work! thanks for sharing this.
