What filament was used in the photos? I love that color.

I used a 120mm x 120mm adjustable speed USB fan. I can plug into any of my old cell phone chargers. This one only draws 250mA at high speed.

Notes / hints for remixers:

  • Draw holes for a power plug and an on/off switch (and optionally a speed control potentiometer). Drilling the holes is not particularly entertaining.
  • Increase the fan edge angle a bit, maybe 10 degrees. In its current format, the thing topples over very easily when used in the vertical position, at least if you have a metallic fan shroud.
  • Increase the size of the three bottom holes. The suction in the horizontal position is rather restricted, and the structural integrity does not require a 15mm wide wall.

Thanks dude! I used the SCAD file to remix it a bit to add holes for routing wires, a fan speed controller and a DC battel plug. Works beautifully!

I have yet to make this, but i figured i would mention that amazon (and im assuming other sites) sells cut to fit carbon filters, probably for much cheaper than the precut company ones. Also makes scaling this up or down less of a issue.

Thanks for the design, and especially for including the scad file. I had to make the walls thicker for my printer to do a good job.

I made one and velcro'd a RC LiPo battery to it, works great!

This is awesome, but a little oversized for many printers. Any way you could split the original design files into a half that could be printed twice on a smaller build platform? Would be easy to reassemble into a whole piece once mounted on the fan with the screws.
