I wanted to thank you for this design. My grandfather is obsessed with military aircrafts. I just bought a CR-10 and wanted to print him something to show how the printer works. This was perfect! Thank you again.

Wonderful writeup and details. Well done.

I love this. I can't wait to print it this evening!

Thank you much! How did it turn out for you?

Awesome! My slicer put 2 different textures on the wings tho, I may try a different one. It still looks great and printed with no supports. Thank you.

I printed mine in half originally (perpendicular to the length of the plane). No supports. The tail rudders are of an angle that they will print without supports. After the print I epoxied the two halfs together.

I thought about printing the 2 halves but then opted for the whole one. I think I scaled it to 95% to make sure it fit the bed since my home point isn't exactly the front corner lol. All in all great model my son loves it.

Thats awesome! I'm glad he can enjoy it my kids love the world of 3d printing too!

SR71 Blackbird is next haha. Talk about a ground breaking aircraft that was ahead of it's time. Definitely one of my favorites.

Yes it really was and still is in some ways. I look forward to seeing it, thanks for the feedback!

Sharpclifton i do not know if you are aware. But i made a model of this first and i dont see why you are posting this without checking if someone made it. So it would be nice if you post it as a remix under my stuff or delete this forever.

Yes, I am well aware. In fact I designed mine because models like yours did not suit me. Besides that a "remix" is taking an existing model and fixing/optimizing it further. I did not use yours, I would not use yours and do not intend to give you any credit for something that I modeled from scratch. Your thought of modeling the F117 is not unique, Skunkworks gets the credit for my design because I used reference images of their aircraft to create my model. Another point you should observe is that my entire design process, print process, and post print process are written about and posted to instruct other people in a way that you did not, my goal was simply different than yours. You deserve nothing related to my efforts, thanks.

Please leave a comment to tell me how this printed for you.
