Thats the best scan i've ever seen.

I am trying to create a dragon chess set which I would like to sell copies of. May I use your dragon in my chess set?

What a beautiful model! The feeble old laptop I have connected to my Makerbot choked on it, though, so I used Meshlab to simplify it and align it to the baseplate, then it printed very easily (admittedly with obvious loss of detail).

Yay dragons! Thank you for all the nice scans. I hope you will keep them coming.

sweet. this is awesome! the model isn't quite ready for 3d printing, but a quick rotate should fix that.

I would have to disagree, this file can be printed with a powder 3D printer or highend printer, just not well with Reprap machines, cupcake or thingomatic to the level of detail. Remember, thingiverse is a place for digital things not just makerbot industry machine printable things :)

Yes it will need support between the gaps, but dual heads can print this fine :)

Artec3d: It will require supprot material for overghangs of 45 degrees otherwise the plastic on the next layer doesnt have sufficient footing to sit onto and therefore droops.
Some machines may not have the capacity yet to do this level of detail, but its getting better! :D

Cool! Thanks for sharing that bit! Did you manage to print it? Any pictures?

I laid mine on its base and printed great till it got to the head and screwed up from there.

For some reason it's oriented at an arbitrary angle. It just needs the base to sit flat with the statue upright and it's a straight forward print, even for lower end machines.

Thank you for the hint!

Thanks Hoeken. We'll be excited to take a look at how you made the model printing-ready. Would you share?
