Could ypu please tell me the length of the finished bobbin? It would help me decide if this will work for my purpose. Thank you!

Hi Lindsay,
The entire bobbin is 13,5cm long and 10cm in diameter, I hope this helps.

I like your design. I'm not familiar with the spinning wheel you have, so I have a few questions.

I don't see a groove on the bobbin end. How does your spinning wheel provide tension on the bobbin?
Also, I noticed a small hole in the shaft. Is that for attaching a leader, or does have another purpose?

Again, great design.

Thank you for your kind words.

This design was a commission for a friend of mine, this design uses 3 prongs on the spinning wheel itself that connect into 3 holes on ones of the sides of the bobbin to drive it.
There is indeed no groove in the side of the bobbin, However if you would like that I could try and implement that into this design for you somewhere next week.

And indeed the hole in the shaft is for the leader, to start coiling it without making making any large knots.

I see what you mean. Spinolutions wheels have a similar design. Did you make this using OpenSCAD?

I really like the design in the center of the bobbin ends.

Thanks for the response.

No, afraid not. I only use Google SketchUp to design my things, I have no skill with other more advanced programs.
