awesome deisgn, how wide is it?
can you maybe share the cad files?
thank you!

Not scaled, had to scale the gears to fit the housing....

I suggest calibrating your extrusion/printer. I've printed these files on several machines and everything fits so I'm very confident that the files are good.

awsome work you are doing. im new to cad and 3dprint. i have all your parts. trying to make fully 3d printed frame axels and gearbox. i have a prototype gearbox and transfercase its harder with the axels. cant make truck v3 axels to fit good whitout some modifikations on them. and the mesh editing in fusion is killing me.. haha

would be awsome to work and chat with you. im doing some micro also. look here https://www.thingiverse.com/Zerwiz/designs.

Will slightly shorter or longer grub screws work? Almost have the parts all printed and am looking for the hardware to buy.

It's possible that 6mm grub screws would work but it'll make the u-joints a bit weaker.
If you get longer grubscrews you can always file them down to proper length.
If they are too long they will extend out of the shackles and catch on the surrounding parts.

What premade wheels can I buy that will work with your design? I can't print ninja-flex.

I've used these, good quality for the price.

I would like to know of you could post the solidworks files, as your design is very intersting and I would like to use it on my futur 1/5e RC car, powered by a 25cc grass cuter motor, but in this order I would have to make modifications on your design (scale and resistance + different implantation of the suspensions for a double triangle with horizontal push suspension)

Many thanks in advance for your answer

Your work are Great!!
thanks for sharing with us..

Any possibility that you will (or done) designing crawler alxe with motor in each axle ?

I haven't planned for it but maybe in the future :)

Where are the tires? I can't find them anywhere...

Isn't stripping the gears a concern since they're made of plastic?

they look amazing though

I sometimes bleww the internal differential gears under high load, but everything else seems to hold up quite fine.
Bear in mind my entire truck was printed in cheap PLA so using a better material would of course make it stronger.

What shocks do you use

You can find the pictured shocks here: https://goo.gl/Df1PLK

Hi, can customize the front axle under the 125mm size?

Hi. This is amazing. I participate in a contest now where we have to build something similar but with 4 electric motors, and this is very useful for me, in terms of ideas. I wonder what is the diameter of the U-joint shaft? Thank you.

Thanks! They are roughly 14mm.

@MrCrankyface, this looks amazing! How well do you think it will scale down? I'm was thinking of trying to put this on a 1:20 scale crawler that I'm designing.

Thank you! Just scaling it procentually probably wouldn't work as all the fastener measurements would be off, axle lengths could be shortened and such but it'd still be quite a beefy axle.

What did you use for the shaft on the spider gears

Either use a 4mm steel shaft or just cut the head of a M4 bolt.

avast is the recommended material you use for the parts

I've printed everything in PLA and it's working really good. For it to be even stronger you could try PETG or similar filament.

First class, as usual... I'm still catching my breath with V2, but I will order an entire new set of parts and hardware just for V3. I like the idea of AWD and see a lot of advantages. Plus, you have made a lot of really good improvements with this one. Keep up the fantastic work, I am really digging this!!!!!!

Thanks for the praise, glad you like it!

Hi, MrCrankyFace...

You have make a very nice job !

Have you the .skp (for SketchUp) file for customise somes part for use the wheel of OpenRC on your axles ?

Best Regard

I made this in Solidworks so there is no .skp files. Only way is if you can convert .stl to .skp or import them somehow.

Do the V3 axles work on the V2 frame? Just curious, I don't see anything about a V3 frame. So far the rear axle is printed and working on this one now. This is just awesome.

Unfortunately a lot of the mounts are different, that's why I choose to increase the version number.
Hopefully I can get the center differential released this week shortly followed by the frame.

Things from the V2 that should work on the V3 is cabin, gearbox and flatbed(excluding lifter motor so far). However as I'm still actively developing and changing things on the V3 compability with older versions might change.

Would it be possible to have a 6X4 truck with two driven rear axles? Keep up the good work it is awesome!

It would require a new rear frame and a "front rear axle" design, definitely possibly. Once I get the AWD completed I'll look into something like that, which should be useable both as 6x4(with old front axle) and 6x6(with this front axle).

i work on an complete 1-14 truck and love your designs and hope as well that you are able to make a 6x4 drive system for my prosject to be 100% printable with credits for you offcorse

I am editing now his files, to make an 8x8 from his Design. I hope this week they will be ready.
