Thank you for saving my sanity - this worked like a charm. My z-axis threaded rods certainly aren't true and straight, but this mod to my Geeetech i3 has eliminated my z-axis wobble. The test cube print shows before and after the mod. Thank you so much for this. :)
They seem to work. But I have some weird squeaking now... Maybe I need to change the nut. The threaded rods are as straight as I could get them and I oiled everything...
Have the ripples gone from your prints? I would check that your screw thread is not resting directly on the stepper drive inside the flexy coupling. You need to narrow down where the noise is coming from and act accordingly.
Remember to come back and post what you've printed as Make.
It's good for the designer and the community (that means you)!
To post a Make, come back to this Thing and click Post a Make.
Or, you can use the Thingiverse Mobile app found on
Google Play
and the Apple App Store.
This works a treat and solves 90% of the issues.

"Geeetech hard wear" - is that like Apple wear?
I don't understand about steel on steel. These are the hardware nuts used:

http://www.geeetech.com/2pcs-tinbronze-m8-nut-for-z-axis-p-933.html
Steel nuts and threads wear out very quickly. Tin bronze on steel will last much longer.
Cheers

so what are these nuts made of then? Steel?
At least when you use someone else's idea give them attribution like saying that this is a remix of this http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1424358 or this http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1431036
instead of making it appear like this is your own idea. Besides this download already uses the Geeetech original HARDWARE http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1431036
Very true. Apologies bernbout! Your design is great! I have updated the description to reflect your clever work.
will try this out now.
the other one on thingiverse was a bit too wobbly.
I shouldjust print this flat with supports right?
thanks
you may need to move the couplet down too.
no supports, just clean out the junk underneath and the brass fitting should fit into place.
