I used 100 wraps of 30awg, than 17 wraps of 23 gauge to be in proper current draw for my led bulbs..... you may want to try 15 wraps to start with an extra couple feet in case you want to add primary wraps to decrease amp draw
I use a 11mm clip on ferrite which changes amp draw massively
I am using a BD243C transistor as it is small and seems to handle the load fine
