this is a 3d print site. why dont you put some 3d files we can print?

It's probably asked to much flipping through all my designs, but I did publish some designs that are suitable for 3d printing even though I don't own a printer myself. I invite you trying this thing: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2105202

One Hand Book Holder cnc/laser

I cut it out of 1/8 Baltic Birch Plywood and realized that original was made with thicker wood. I had to reconfigure design for 1/8th material Now that i cut the bowl out, where do I begin to shape it?

Take a look at the improved (and simplified) design: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2171550

Bend Spiral Bowl Advanced cnc/laser

Very nice work! I like this a lot! :)

Well, You like it, did You do it?
I did: it is trash!

I must admit that I've neither downloaded or built it. I like the idea, though. Using spiralling shapes to form a bowl. I think I'd redesign it for slightly thinner material before attempting the assembly. Working with thick plywood is frustrating at the best of times. How did you manage to shape it, ZenziWerken?

I used a bowl of the same size and some lead weights to bend the shape. Then I glued the arms one by one fix it with a clamp. As stated: not exactly easy :) requires some frustration tolerance ...

The clamp part struck me as the obvious way to go by looking at the design. Using a similar shape and weights never struck me. Weights and patience. I don't think I have enough of either. ;)

Hi Manfred, thanks for the constructive criticism. You are completely right. The built is much more challenging than it looks. I suppose no one did it ... ever :( But it is downloaded A LOT.

I tried to buid it and was almost done but ended up trowing it away because I Didn't like how it looked.

You might try my improved version. It's much simple to make using steam-bending technique.

I was thinking a soak in water...but then wet/grainy wood and glue....and probably wouldn't want a yummy toxic adhesive.....

Hi Emma, I'd recommend not to drink the water the bowl was soaked in ... After bending the wood should dry completely. So wet grain toxic stuff when the bowl is ready.
