How do you orient that part on the print bed? Do you use supports?

flat, with supports.

thank you! Greatly appreciated!

Hi airald,

Really like your hinge design. I would like to remix your hinge to create a hinge that auto closes to 90 degrees. I am new to 3d printing, so was wondering if you have a file that has the rectangular bracket separate to the cylinders so I could easily rotate them.
Best regards
Jerome

Do you have the exact distance between the hole centers and the edges? I'm getting odd values. The hole diameter is 4.5mm and the center from the edges are 16.4mm, and 20mm distance between hole centers?

Hi, thank you for the hinge design, it might be worth adding a note to the thing details, that this hinge has to be situated on the right hand side of the door, and needs to be mirrored in order to work on the left hand side.
Top job, Cheers

Just fitted these on a Plexi door for my printer. Works perfectly, I used a thin nail for the hinge.
Good job mate

@airald I have done a simple remix of your hinge, hope you don't mind. This design works perfectly, but I needed a couple of mods for my application such as support for pan-head bolts. Many thanks for sharing. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1933479

hinge, Autoclose remix
by Hagster

Hi @Hagster,

of course you can remix the hinge, I'm glad that it could be used and fit your needs.

Really nice idea, and excellent design! What do you use as pin, connecting the parts?

Thank's. I use a metric diam 3 pin (DIN 6325). So I drill on side at a higher diameter in order to not move the pin when open/close the hinge.

It's also possible to use a standard M3 screw, or DIN660 pin (better than screw). If the pin moves, you can glue it or punch one side.

How long should the diam 3 pin of type DIN6325 be ideally? I have yet to print this hinge and would like to try and find the metal parts,

Hello, how long is this bolt supposed to be? I didn´t have time to print (and measure) the part yet but would like to get some bolts ordered already.

It's about 25x36x7.5 mm and uses M4 bolts.

Thank you for the information, very clear and understandable. :)

I like the addition of the self-close feature.
You could probably make this and the original hinge print-in-place usable with no pin needed.

Hi cyclone, could you explain yourself better? Any example?

Very Smart
